"It is with great pleasure that I present my art to you. My work is inspired by my own inner desires to have you marvel with me at the beauty and communicativeness of the human form and portraiture and also to plant seeds of strength, love and respect amongst individuals, communities and peoples of the world."
BIOGRAPHY
Inspired and influenced by everyday contemporaries to renaissance masters, Jadon Matthews believes that there are elements of his art that he pulls from “everyone”. However though, he singles out the multi-faceted Leonardo Da vinci as the one individual who is truly most inspiring.

Born in Mayaro Trinidad where he spent his early childhood, Jadon started creating at the tender age of five, going on to sell his first piece at 15 years old at the now defunct Top of the Mount art gallery. However, he spent 10 years working as a public servant before deciding to leave the day job to pursue his passion for creativity. Throughout the years though he had been developing his art and had exhibited consignment pieces at local galleries and participated in various group shows before having his first solo exhibition in 2019. Jadon has exhibited his work through solo and collaborative shows at home and abroad.

Proficient in charcoal, oils and acrylics, he has been mostly recognized as a charcoal artist because a vast majority of his works has been in this medium. However, his more thought provoking, larger scaled works are done in oils on canvas. He is a self taught artist even though he did receive some training at the University of the West Indies. His style strays between realism and impressionism, with forays into surrealism, but his deft hand and flair for capturing texture and mood are always evident in his sentimental scenes, wistful portraiture and visual messages of love and peace. A master of portraiture and the human form, Jadon prefers live models, but photographs are often used as well.
Ever desiring to impact the art world locally, regionally and internationally, Jadon artist exudes an overwhelming passion for his craft and a great understanding of its effect on individuals and groups.
